The main mission of the Geological museum is to display achievements of the Republic of Armenia by zones of geological structure and show the visitors the natural resources. In the museum the maps of the area of minerals, rocks, fossil specimens of animals and plants, etc are presented. Among the most remarkable items in the museum we can mention the prehistoric elephant skeleton discovered in Gyumri. In the museum there are over 13 thousand samples, 98% of which are found in Armenia. The exhibits are presented in 6 sections: mineralogy, paleontology, stone science, minerals, mineral waters of Armenia, natural monuments of Armenia.
